Matthew 1

1. Matthew’s Christmas story begins with Abraham – Matt 1:1-17, Gal 3:16
2. God intercepted Joseph’s parentage, because the Savior must be Himself a sinless man – Rom 5:12
3. Matthew then clears up the confusion about Isaiah’s prophecy! – Matt 1:23
4. The theme of Matthew is that Jesus is King of the Jews – Matthew is a “King Maker”!

Matthew 2

1. The “wise men” are really from the tribe of Magu – Matthew 2:1-2
2. The story of the Magi starts in Babylon with Daniel, 500 years before Jesus was bornn. – Acts 7:22, Daniel 1:17; 5:11
3. God sent Gentile Kingmakers for the coronation of King Jesus – John 1:9-12
4. There were not three kings, but there were three kinds of people in the story:
   1. Herod was the God hater
   2. The priests and scribes had the knowledge, but no interest
   3. The Magi were the true worshippers!
5. Think about which kind of person you are in these terms.  The throne of Grace is made for mercy and grace to help in time of need
